The construction and infrastructure being done by both The Federal and State Government through ADMICARGA and Private Entity Baja California Railroad (BJRR) to promote the usage of the railroad as a freight option will have a positive impact on the city of Tecate, said the mayor of this municipality Nereida Fuentes.

During the presentation of Cali Baja Cargo Rail Binational Forum, Fuentes presented the advances in optimizing railway crossings for Tecate.

She mentioned that The Federal Government allocated $270 Million pesos (about $15.5 Million Dollars) to rehabilitate and replace warned segments of The Tijuana-Tecate Short Line that dates back to the year 1913.

Nereida Fuentes commented that because the Tijuana-Tecate Short Line transits through downtown Tecate, The Desert Line will have a positive economic and infrastructural impact on the city.

“I truly believe on the positive impact not only for the city but also the environment because it removes trucks from Tijuana and Tecate streets and US Border Crossing”.

Lastly, The Mayor of Tecate acknowledged the support of all governmental agencies and BJRR for not only promoting the economy of Tecate, but also of the State.
