In order to boost the economy of the region, Baja California Railroad (BJRR), operator of the Short Line of Tijuana-Tecate, proposed the new cross-border project to strengthen the region’s competitiveness.<\/p>\n
This was stated by the Secretary of Economic Development of the State (SEDECO, by its acronym in Spanish), Carlo Bonfante Olache, during the monthly session of the Association of Industrial Exporters in Tijuana (INDEX, by its acronym in Spanish), presided over by Dr. Luis Manuel Hern\u00e1ndez Gonz\u00e1lez, where he highlighted the issue of competitiveness in the region.<\/p>\n
Bonfante Olache mentioned that the idea is to structure an important industrial area, which will demonstrate the close relationship that the project has by counting on a train that will be more connected with the residents.<\/p>\n
“The main thing is to prove that this is an important industrial zone, which will allow us to consider that we have a train which will be much more connected with a dynamic population that demands us daily to have the conditions to create the sources of work required”, he said.<\/p>\n
In terms of costs, he highlighted that this is why Baja California must get ahead and be competitive to have a real offer for attracting investment, although he’s aware of the concern about the issue of Free Trade Agreements.<\/p>\n
“We know and we share that there is uncertainty now in regards to the Free Trade Agreements and the threat of the United States to leave or modify it, but there is so much pressure that they are putting in that we’re working on becoming more modest in our dynamics,” he said.<\/p>\n
In conclusion, he emphasized the great interest there is in promoting the border economic competitiveness, since in the case of Baja California, it will be strengthened through this communication route: it will be of great benefit to all the regional industrial sectors, which will be connected with the most important U.S. companies.<\/p>\n

Con el fin de impulsar la econom\u00eda de la regi\u00f3n, la empresa Baja California Railroad (BJRR), operadora de la v\u00eda corta de ferrocarril Tijuana-Tecate propuso el nuevo proyecto transfronterizo para fortalecer la competitividad de la regi\u00f3n.<\/p>
Lo anterior lo afirm\u00f3 el Secretario de Desarrollo Econ\u00f3mico del Estado (SEDECO), Carlo Bonfante Olache, durante la sesi\u00f3n mensual de la Asociaci\u00f3n de la Industrial de Exportaci\u00f3n (INDEX) Tijuana, que preside el Doctor Luis Manuel Hern\u00e1ndez Gonz\u00e1lez, donde destac\u00f3 el tema de la competitividad en la regi\u00f3n.<\/p>
Bonfante Olache mencion\u00f3 que la idea es estructurar una zona industrial importante, la cual demostrar\u00e1 la estrecha relaci\u00f3n que se cuenta con el proyecto de tener un tren que ser\u00e1 y estar\u00e1 m\u00e1s comunicado con los residentes.<\/p>
\u201cLo primordial es demostrar que esta es una zona industrial importante, la cual permitir\u00e1 ponderar que tenemos un tren que ser\u00e1 mucho m\u00e1s comunicado con una poblaci\u00f3n din\u00e1mica que nos exige a diario que tengamos condiciones para crear las fuentes de trabajo requerido\u201d, expres\u00f3.<\/p>
En relaci\u00f3n a costos, recalc\u00f3 que es por eso que Baja California debe salir adelante y ser competitivo para tener una oferta real para la atracci\u00f3n de inversi\u00f3n, aunque est\u00e1 consciente de la inquietud que hay por el tema de los Tratados de Libre Comercio.<\/p>
\u201cSabemos y compartimos que hay incertidumbre ahorita por los Tratados de Libre Comercio y la amenaza de Estados Unidos de salirse o modificar, pero es tanta la presi\u00f3n que est\u00e1n poniendo que estamos trabajando en ser m\u00e1s recatados en nuestras din\u00e1micas\u201d dijo.<\/p>
Para concluir, hizo \u00e9nfasis en impulsar la competitividad econ\u00f3mica fronteriza, ya que en el caso de Baja California, se ver\u00e1 fortalecida mediante esta v\u00eda de comunicaci\u00f3n pues ser\u00e1 de gran beneficio para todos los sectores industriales de la regi\u00f3n, que estar\u00e1n conectados con las compa\u00f1\u00edas m\u00e1s importantes de Estados Unidos.<\/p>
